A successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience in the analysis, design and detailed plan preparation of steel and concrete bridges, retaining wall design, as well as have an understanding of special provisions, scheduling, highway and geotechnical engineering.
Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff and other disciplines within GFT.
The candidate will serve as a senior engineer and bridge project/task manager for a variety of multidisciplinary projects.
The candiate will manage new and existing clients, as well as mentor structural staff.
The candidate will work with team members to maintain and improve current client relationships, as well as develop new clients.
Responsibility for managing/overseeing scopes, schedules and budgets for projects performed with the bridge group and daily successful operation of all aspects of project delivery including customer interface.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Bridge Design, contract plans preparation and specifications requiring quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets and schedules.
Developing and analyzing design options.
Maintaining organized design calculation and project data.
Performing load ratings analysis.
Calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates.
Office support for construction support services.
Work with contractor or other consultants to develop demolition and erection plans, temporary sheeting, cofferdam designs, and temporary supports.
Review shop drawing submittals.
Address questions from contractors during the construction phases of structures.
Act as task manager and/or Engineer of Record.
Requirements
BS in Civil or Structural Engineering; Masters Preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the analysis and design of concrete and structural steel bridges and related simple and complex structures.
PA PE required.
Must possess strong leadership and communications skills.
Well versed in PennDOT design policies, standards and specifications.
Candidate should be well versed in the use of the AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications.
Knowledge of AREMA preferred but not required.
Position requires knowledge in the use of Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
Open Bridge experience preferred but not required.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word programs for business applications.
Experience in writing/development of project proposals and letters of interest preferred but not required.
