About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design end-to-end experiences for gaiia’s operational platform, from early concepts and prototypes to polished, shipped UI.
- Partner with product and engineering to frame ambiguous problems, set direction, and translate strategy into clear scopes, strong interaction models, and durable design decisions.
- Use research and rapid iteration to make complex workflows simpler, faster, and more trustworthy.
- Help shape squad priorities by clarifying tradeoffs, defining what success looks like, and aligning stakeholders around the best path forward.
- Build and evolve our design system so teams can ship consistently high-quality experiences as the product scales.
- Use AI thoughtfully to explore more options, validate decisions sooner, and increase the impact of your work.
- Partner with QA to review and validate designs through testing, clear specs, edge cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Raise the bar on craft, accessibility, and clarity by sweating the details that make software feel effortless.
- Help level up the team by sharing feedback, mentoring, and raising the quality bar through design reviews and collaboration.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that shows strong craft and clear thinking.
- Experience designing complex B2B web applications, especially across operational domains like Billing & Notifications, CRM, Product Catalog, Inventory/Fulfillment, Network & Geo, and platform tooling (including AI-powered product surfaces).
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, FigJam) and comfort using AI tools in your workflow (e.g., Claude) alongside user testing tools.
- Strong grasp of user-centered design principles, and the ability to translate customer needs into simple, high-quality experiences.
- Experience planning and running research (interviews, usability testing) and using insights to iterate.
- Familiarity with mixed-method research, experimentation (A/B testing), and agile product development.
- Clear, structured communication and the ability to build alignment across design, product, and engineering.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, highly iterative environments where ideas evolve through open dialogue and shared work.
- Strong design leadership: you bring a point of view, align teams, and own outcomes through follow-through.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to context-switch across multiple streams of work.
- Openness to feedback, with a willingness to refine, rethink, and reimagine your work.
- Bachelor’s degree in user experience design or a related field is a plus.
