About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare components for powder coat application, including loading, washing, electro chemical cleaning, applying, curing, and unloading components
  • Perform hand abrasive blasting as required
  • Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures
  • Prepare parts for coating, including electro chemical cleaning as required
  • Follow principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Determine material flow and coating quality through visual inspections
  • Bake/cure parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
  • Ensure components are produced/coated efficiently and meet company quality goals before passing to the next operation
  • Clean and perform daily maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed
  • Train others in powder coat operation tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work to ensure it meets requirements before passing it to the next operation
  • Complete production and quality forms
  • Communicate effectively with others at various organizational levels

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Able to safely use small hand and power tools
  • Able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating work with other team members
  • Able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written, and communicate instructions to others clearly, professionally, and respectfully
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development
  • Must understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ideally, 1-2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ideally, 1-2 years experience working as a painter or powder coat operator
  • Work classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL)
  • Lift up to 75 pounds occasionally from floor to waist with assistance
  • Lift up to 40 pounds frequently from floor to waist
  • Carry up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 25 feet
  • Push/Pull up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Push/Pull more than 40 pounds occasionally with assistance
  • Continuous standing and walking
  • Frequent bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, and lifting
  • Continuous gripping, manipulation, and fingering
  • Frequent variable hand/power tool use
  • Perform two-person tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing, including engine stands, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists
  • Must remain medically cleared to wear respirator equipment
  • G&W Electric participates in the E-Verify process for all new hires
