About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare components for powder coat application, including loading, electrochemical cleaning/washing, applying, curing, and unloading components
  • Perform hand abrasive blasting as required
  • Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures
  • Follow principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Perform visual inspections to determine material flow and coating quality
  • Bake/cure parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
  • Ensure components are coated efficiently and consistently with company quality goals
  • Clean and perform daily maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed
  • Train others in powder coat operation tasks as needed
  • Inspect work and ensure it meets requirements before passing it to the next operation
  • Complete production and quality forms
  • Communicate effectively with others at various organizational levels

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Is able to safely use small hand and power tools
  • Is able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Is able to work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating work with other team members
  • Is able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written, and to communicate instructions to others in a clear, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Has demonstrated ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Holds a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • 1-2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment (ideally)
  • 1-2 years experience working as a painter or powder coat operator (ideally)
  • Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level; lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance, lifting up to 40 pounds frequently, carrying up to 40 pounds occasionally, and pushing/pulling requirements
  • Continuous standing and walking; frequent bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, and lifting
  • Continuous gripping, manipulation, and fingering; frequent variable hand/power tool use
  • Ability to perform two-person tasks using assistive lifting devices
  • Must remain medically cleared to wear respirator equipment
  • Must participate in E-Verify for new hires
