About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support product realization through cross-functional team collaboration
- Manage portions of the new product design process
- Lead portions of the design process, completing assigned tasks
- Develop schedules, coordinate and manage low complexity projects with little to no supervision
- Prepare budgets and define resource needs for projects
- Assist with completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements
- Ensure that projects meet specifications and standards, promoting error-proof assembly
- Create project test plans and complete test programs
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies
- Review test data and ensure testing meets requirements
- Perform engineering analysis in design of new products
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting
- Prepare documentation of processes, material requirements, and project activity
- Interface with purchasing and vendors for component selection
- Provide engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing
- Consult with customer representatives regarding product requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development
- Experience working on highly technical and innovative projects with demonstrated ability to be constantly challenged with new problems
- 3D parametric modeling
- Running finite element modeling
- Strong technical knowledge required in mechanism design, linkages, springs, statics, dynamics and material properties
- Familiarity with various manufacturing methods to include casting, machining, molding, stamping and forming
- Familiarity with new product development Stage Gate Process
- The ability to write technical documents, like test reports, engineering standards and technical papers
- The ability to read and interpret technical standards
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with DFMEA and DOE required
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
- The ability to use small hand and power tools.
