About the role

  • Drive business growth by developing and executing strategic sales plans, identifying target customers, and pursuing high-value opportunities across assigned territories and market segments.
  • Direct and energize the G&W sales force, Territory Managers, and Representatives to identify, qualify automation opportunities, execute power grid automation solution sales playbooks.
  • Develop account plans for strategic customers and national consultants to drive penetration and long-term relationship growth.
  • Own the full customer engagement cycle from discovery and qualification through contract negotiation and close.
  • Engage early in the sales cycle with electrical consultants, EPCs, developers, and end users to position G&W Power Grid Automation as the preferred solution partner during project planning and design phases.
  • Lead solution design discussions in-person and virtually with customers to understand their technical and commercial needs, and recommend optimal G&W solutions that solve their specific problems.
  • Collaborate with the internal application engineering and automation engineering teams to develop targeted proposals for large and strategic opportunities.
  • Support project kickoff sessions with customers and internal project teams to ensure smooth project handoff and execution to the project management team.
  • Contribute to and present technical briefings, white papers, application guides, and presentations to engineers and key decision-makers, articulating value propositions against competitors.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of all G&W products and solutions, staying current on industry power system automation technologies, trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Support promotional activities such as trade shows, lunch-and-learns, and industry conferences to enhance G&W brand visibility and market positioning.
  • Collaborate with product management teams by providing customer feedback, market intelligence, and insights on competitive situations to influence product development and roadmaps.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline required; MBA preferred
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in power grid automation engineering, power system communication, technical solution sales, or field application engineering within the electric utility, power distribution, or related industries
  • Demonstrated success in a customer-facing role with proven ability to close technical solution opportunities or implement complex solutions.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems and distribution networks, including medium voltage switchgear, distribution automation, SCADA, ADMS, protection and control schemes, and automated switchgear solutions
  • Understanding of power system automation protocols and technologies including DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, RTUs, IEDs, and ethernet communication mediums.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deliver compelling technical solution presentations to diverse audiences ranging from engineers to executives.
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving skills in technical applications and customer relations
  • Proven ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with utilities, industrial facilities, engineering firms, contractors, and data centers
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities across technical and business teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and standard business software
  • The ability to travel extensively, up to 50% of the time required.
