About the role
- The Project Engineer II, Sustaining, will lead design improvement projects to existing products.
- Lead the technical side of the project from the idea to the completion of the validation tests.
- Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear per specification.
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the change Management, validation, and approval processes.
- Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required.
- Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
- Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
- Develop schedules, coordinate and manage projects of minor to major size with little to no supervision.
- Consult with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications when design or manufacturing problems are involved.
- Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3-8 years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development
- Related power distribution experience
- Work on highly technical and involved projects constantly challenged with new problems with little supervision
- Support and contribute to project milestones and deliverables.
- Experience with project management and driving project execution
- Participate in customer-facing activities.
- Experience with leveraging and interpreting relevant industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.)
- Able to innovate and provide creative solutions
- Able to use small hand and power tools.
- Some experience with CREO Parametric or other 3-D CAD systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Experience in writing technical documents (test reports, engineering standards and technical papers)
- High degree of initiative to finish tasks on time.
- Drive to learn new technologies and methodologies.
