About the role

  • The Project Engineer II, Sustaining, will lead design improvement projects to existing products.
  • Lead the technical side of the project from the idea to the completion of the validation tests.
  • Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear per specification.
  • Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the change Management, validation, and approval processes.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required.
  • Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
  • Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
  • Develop schedules, coordinate and manage projects of minor to major size with little to no supervision.
  • Consult with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications when design or manufacturing problems are involved.
  • Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-8 years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development
  • Related power distribution experience
  • Work on highly technical and involved projects constantly challenged with new problems with little supervision
  • Support and contribute to project milestones and deliverables.
  • Experience with project management and driving project execution
  • Participate in customer-facing activities.
  • Experience with leveraging and interpreting relevant industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.)
  • Able to innovate and provide creative solutions
  • Able to use small hand and power tools.
  • Some experience with CREO Parametric or other 3-D CAD systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Experience in writing technical documents (test reports, engineering standards and technical papers)
  • High degree of initiative to finish tasks on time.
  • Drive to learn new technologies and methodologies.
