About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and evolve the target architecture for FuzeRx’s core B2B and consumer platforms
- Drive the technical roadmap to transition legacy systems into modern, scalable, and cohesive architectures
- Lead design and implementation of technically challenging initiatives, including high-volume API integrations, pharmacy fulfillment logistics, and distributed data consistency
- Mentor Staff, Senior, and Mid-level engineers
- Institute design reviews, pairing sessions, and technical brown-bags
- Establish and enforce coding, testing, CI/CD, and security-by-design standards
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering Managers, and Pharmacy Operations
- Architect systems supporting HIPAA and SOC2 compliance, patient-data privacy, and secure messaging
- Optimize performance, reduce latency, and improve database efficiency in PostgreSQL and AWS infrastructure
- Evaluate tools, frameworks, and AWS services through proof-of-concepts
- Serve as a Tier 1 technical escalation point for critical architectural outages
- Report to the VP of Engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in software engineering and systems design
- 3+ years operating at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior architectural level across multiple teams
- Extensive experience building and scaling distributed, high-throughput, highly available B2B SaaS or transactional systems
- Availability during standard business hours
- Mastery of modern cloud architectures
- Deep, hands-on expertise in AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with Slack, GSuite, and Jira
- Ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and stakeholders
- Proven ability to design and implement complex distributed systems
- Experience optimizing complex relational database queries
- Experience establishing automated deployment pipelines
- Deep domain expertise in HealthTech, Digital Pharmacy, or highly regulated environments
- Advanced knowledge of HL7, FHIR, NCPDP, and EHR integrations
- Experience leading a major architectural paradigm shift at scale
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods and perform the stated physical requirements
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship or transfer is available
