About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist in managing AWS RDS instances by monitoring database health, identifying performance issues, and participating in root-cause investigations
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 database availability and rapid response to production incidents across our global infrastructure
Execute quarterly patching, monthly index reviews, and backup integrity testing within a live production environment
Advance your T-SQL knowledge by participating in code reviews and assisting Developer and TechOps teams with query optimization and execution
Utilize Python, PowerShell, and other scripting languages to build or maintain automation tools (e.g., AWS Lambdas, GitHub Action workflows, etc.)
Manage user permissions, SOPs, and disaster recovery runbooks while helping ensure regulatory framework compliance (including HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC2) across all database systems

Requirements

What you’ll need

1–3 years in a DBA or Database Support role; must have hands-on exposure to a live, production-level environment
Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or newer
Hands-on experience or a solid understanding of AWS core services (RDS, Lambda, State Machines, CloudWatch)
Proficiency in T-SQL; exposure to Python and PowerShell for automation tasks
Strong understanding of ACID properties, indexing, backup/restore strategies, and database security
Strong communication skills to work closely with distributed DevOps and TechOps teams, alongside a clear commitment to supporting the on-call rotation.
