About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in managing AWS RDS instances by monitoring database health, identifying performance issues, and participating in root-cause investigations
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 database availability and rapid response to production incidents across our global infrastructure
  • Execute quarterly patching, monthly index reviews, and backup integrity testing within a live production environment
  • Advance your T-SQL knowledge by participating in code reviews and assisting Developer and TechOps teams with query optimization and execution
  • Utilize Python, PowerShell, and other scripting languages to build or maintain automation tools (e.g., AWS Lambdas, GitHub Action workflows, etc.)
  • Manage user permissions, SOPs, and disaster recovery runbooks while helping ensure regulatory framework compliance (including HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC2) across all database systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1–3 years in a DBA or Database Support role; must have hands-on exposure to a live, production-level environment
  • Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or newer
  • Hands-on experience or a solid understanding of AWS core services (RDS, Lambda, State Machines, CloudWatch)
  • Proficiency in T-SQL; exposure to Python and PowerShell for automation tasks
  • Strong understanding of ACID properties, indexing, backup/restore strategies, and database security
  • Strong communication skills to work closely with distributed DevOps and TechOps teams, alongside a clear commitment to supporting the on-call rotation.
