About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform first-level (PV1) verification of medication orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with prescriber intent prior to downstream review or dispensing.
- Review prescription order entry for correct drug, strength, dosage form, quantity, directions, refills, and patient information; identify discrepancies and resolve data-entry errors in collaboration with pharmacy staff.
- Ensure all verified orders comply with federal, state, and organizational pharmacy regulations, including controlled substance requirements and documentation standards.
- Partner with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, prescribers, and operational teams to address escalated order issues, clarify prescriptions, and support safe and efficient workflow.
- Provide consistent PV1 verification support across remote and on-site environments, maintaining productivity, accuracy, and quality standards regardless of work location.
- Document interventions, clarifications, and corrections according to pharmacy policy; escalate clinical concerns or ambiguous orders to appropriate clinical or leadership teams.
- Accurately prepare, compound (when applicable), and dispense medications in accordance with verified orders, prescriber intent, and patient-specific requirements, ensuring timely and safe delivery of therapy.
- Perform final clinical and dispensing verification of medications prior to release, confirming correct drug, dose, formulation, labeling, and patient instructions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in state of residence.
- PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Experience reviewing medication orders, prescription data, or pharmacy workflows with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic prescribing platforms, and verification workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment.
