About the role
- Shape the future of data at enterprise scale: Define and own the architecture vision across domains, platforms, and programs on Google Cloud.
- Design next-generation data platforms: Lead multi-project, multi-region initiatives using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, and Composer.
- Innovate with modern architectures: Build lakehouse, data mesh, and hybrid architectures that balance governance, scalability, and domain autonomy.
- Set the standards for excellence: Establish reference architectures, best practices, and design patterns for batch, streaming, and real-time analytics.
- Drive strategic decisions: Lead architectural choices for high-volume, mission-critical workloads and ensure platforms are secure, compliant, and cost-efficient.
- Enable AI/ML at scale: Define the data foundations and integrations that power Vertex AI and advanced ML pipelines.
- Modernize and transform: Guide the migration of legacy platforms to Google Cloud, optimizing performance and cost.
- Lead, mentor, and influence: Provide technical leadership across architecture boards and teams, elevate engineering maturity, and translate business goals into actionable data strategies.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in data architecture and cloud-native platforms.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Google Cloud data ecosystem, including: BigQuery (performance tuning, cost control, advanced modeling), Dataflow / Apache Beam, Pub/Sub and event-driven architectures, Dataproc / Spark, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer / workflow orchestration.
- Proven track record designing enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse platforms.
- Strong knowledge of streaming architectures, real-time processing, and distributed systems.
- Advanced data modeling skills (dimensional, Data Vault, domain-driven, or hybrid approaches).
- Experience in data governance and security, including regulated or complex environments.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and platform automation, such as Terraform and CI/CD for data platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership: ability to align architecture across teams and influence technical direction at scale.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and executives.
- Experience working in large, distributed, or multi-vendor environments.
