About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Designing, developing, and configuring integration flows within IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) using Data Format Description Language (DFDL) for complex data parsing and serialization.
  • Building and managing EDI, API, and application integrations.
  • Creating, testing, and optimizing DFDL models to map and parse non-standard, custom text, CSV, fixed-width, and legacy binary file formats.
  • Writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas using regular expressions and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
  • Building message flows that utilize DFDL to convert unstructured or proprietary data formats into standard XML or JSON structures, and vice-versa.
  • Connecting modern applications with legacy mainframes and backend systems.
  • Processing complex industry-specific messages (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) via DFDL.
  • Conducting root-cause analysis for integration failures, including DFDL parser and IBM ACE runtime issues.
  • Documenting workflows, mappings, and processes clearly and collaborating with clients, business analysts, and development teams.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) v11/v12 middleware development (both required; Mulesoft experience welcomed as equivalent adjacent background).
  • Proven experience writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas, utilizing regular expressions, and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
  • Proficient in using the IBM ACE Toolkit for DFDL schema generation, testing, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of ESQL, mapping nodes, XML Schema (XSD), and standard messaging protocols (MQ, HTTP, REST, SOAP).
  • Proficiency in EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, CSV, XML, JSON).
  • Strong knowledge of data mapping, transformation, and communication protocols (FTP/SFTP, AS2, HTTP/S, etc.).
  • Experience with industry messaging standards (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a big plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
