About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Designing, developing, and configuring integration flows within IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) using Data Format Description Language (DFDL) for complex data parsing and serialization.
Building and managing EDI, API, and application integrations.
Creating, testing, and optimizing DFDL models to map and parse non-standard, custom text, CSV, fixed-width, and legacy binary file formats.
Writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas using regular expressions and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
Building message flows that utilize DFDL to convert unstructured or proprietary data formats into standard XML or JSON structures, and vice-versa.
Connecting modern applications with legacy mainframes and backend systems.
Processing complex industry-specific messages (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) via DFDL.
Conducting root-cause analysis for integration failures, including DFDL parser and IBM ACE runtime issues.
Documenting workflows, mappings, and processes clearly and collaborating with clients, business analysts, and development teams.

Requirements

What you’ll need

5–8 years of hands-on experience with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) v11/v12 middleware development (both required; Mulesoft experience welcomed as equivalent adjacent background).
Proven experience writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas, utilizing regular expressions, and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
Proficient in using the IBM ACE Toolkit for DFDL schema generation, testing, and debugging.
Strong understanding of ESQL, mapping nodes, XML Schema (XSD), and standard messaging protocols (MQ, HTTP, REST, SOAP).
Proficiency in EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, CSV, XML, JSON).
Strong knowledge of data mapping, transformation, and communication protocols (FTP/SFTP, AS2, HTTP/S, etc.).
Experience with industry messaging standards (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) is a big plus.
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a big plus.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
