About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Designing, developing, and configuring integration flows within IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) using Data Format Description Language (DFDL).
- Building and managing EDI, API, and application integrations.
- Creating, testing, and optimizing DFDL models to map and parse non-standard, custom text, CSV, fixed-width, and legacy binary file formats.
- Writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas using regular expressions.
- Connecting modern applications with legacy mainframes and backend systems.
- Processing complex industry-specific messages (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) via DFDL.
- Debugging and monitoring integration flows.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5–8 years of hands-on experience with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) v11/v12 middleware development (both required; Mulesoft experience welcomed as equivalent adjacent background).
- Proven experience writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas, utilizing regular expressions, and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
- Proficient in using the IBM ACE Toolkit for DFDL schema generation, testing, and debugging.
- Strong understanding of ESQL, mapping nodes, XML Schema (XSD), and standard messaging protocols (MQ, HTTP, REST, SOAP).
- Proficiency in EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, CSV, XML, JSON).
- Strong knowledge of data mapping, transformation, and communication protocols (FTP/SFTP, AS2, HTTP/S, etc.).
- Experience with industry messaging standards (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) is a big plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a big plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
