About the role

  • Perform mechanical designs and calculations under the direct supervision of an Engineer or Team Lead
  • Assist in the preparation of mechanical designs for power and low voltage products
  • Interact with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
  • Present technical information during design meetings or reviews
  • Create and update 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components
  • Create and update 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies
  • Support the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products
  • Self-check own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed
  • Work with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs
  • Support service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent
  • 6+ months of product design experience
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience in sheet metal or heavy fabrication design, Mechanical Design and Drafting, and Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes
  • Experience in large 3D assemblies and electrical equipment preferred.
