About the role

  • This is a fully remote position, with a preference for candidates located near one of our FTI office locations.
  • Writes about technical subjects for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Provides Quality Assurance for all produced courseware materials.
  • Adheres to and updates the in-house style guide.
  • Creates infographics and screenshot markups.
  • Writes, edits, and supports section updates User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) copy.
  • Creates and builds out user assistance infrastructure, including how-to sections, FAQs, and Help sections.
  • Updates, edits, and proofreads written materials such as product manuals, user manuals, how-to guides, and FAQs.
  • Works closely with subject matter experts, engineers, developers, and the product marketing team.
  • Monitors analytics on usage of online product training materials as well as those embedded within the product.
  • Collects user data to determine areas of documentation that need revision and updating.
  • Other related duties as necessary to support the mission.
  • For this role, the annual compensation range for candidates in Colorado is ($63K-$83K)*.
  • Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
  • FTI has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain U.S. Dept. of Defense security clearance as needed.
  • BA in English, writing, communications, or curriculum development.
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous deadlines.
  • Experience with product development, including past use of product development software.
  • Ability to write user-friendly, engaging copy about highly technical subjects.
  • Ability to understand and accurately translate technical information for a general audience.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Preferred: U.S. Dept. of Defense Secret, TS, or TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Knowledge of coding and scripting languages, such as C++, Python, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
  • Agile/Scrum experience.
  • MA in technical writing.
  • Technical Writing certification.
