About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment and document it in medical records
  • Modify treatment plans as indicated and notify the appropriate clinical personnel or physician
  • Assess and provide patient and family education
  • Direct and provide safe and effective daily hemodialysis therapy
  • Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and new-staff orientation
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures
  • Document and update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete CAP requirements for advancement
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment
  • Entry-level RN role for candidates with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
  • Must complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Team Leader or Nurse in Charge oversight requires completion of FKC education and training, at least 9 months of RN experience, and at least 3 months of chronic/acute hemodialysis RN experience
  • Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
  • Ability to move machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. to a height of 5 feet
  • Ability to work around infectious and contagious diseases/materials
  • Ability to perform desk and computer work and interact with patients, facility/hospital staff, and physicians
  • Ability to travel to training sites or other facilities as required
