About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment and document it in medical records
- Modify treatment plans as indicated and notify the appropriate clinical personnel or physician
- Assess and provide patient and family education
- Direct and provide safe and effective daily hemodialysis therapy
- Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
- Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
- Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and new-staff orientation
- Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures
- Document and update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
- Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
- Complete CAP requirements for advancement
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment
- Entry-level RN role for candidates with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
- Must complete CAP requirements to advance
- Team Leader or Nurse in Charge oversight requires completion of FKC education and training, at least 9 months of RN experience, and at least 3 months of chronic/acute hemodialysis RN experience
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- Ability to move machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. to a height of 5 feet
- Ability to work around infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Ability to perform desk and computer work and interact with patients, facility/hospital staff, and physicians
- Ability to travel to training sites or other facilities as required
