About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment and document it in medical records
Modify treatment plans as indicated and notify the appropriate clinical personnel or physician
Assess and provide patient and family education
Direct and provide safe and effective daily hemodialysis therapy
Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and new-staff orientation
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures
Document and update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
Complete CAP requirements for advancement
Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current appropriate state licensure
Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment
Entry-level RN role for candidates with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
Must complete CAP requirements to advance
Team Leader or Nurse in Charge oversight requires completion of FKC education and training, at least 9 months of RN experience, and at least 3 months of chronic/acute hemodialysis RN experience
Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
Ability to move machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. to a height of 5 feet
Ability to work around infectious and contagious diseases/materials
Ability to perform desk and computer work and interact with patients, facility/hospital staff, and physicians
Ability to travel to training sites or other facilities as required
