About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead safety across the team, contractors, and others
- Develop and own track maintenance engineering standards
- Carry out annual Level 3 track maintenance assessments and compile investment reports
- Provide technical advice to the track maintenance team on inspection issues
- Support internal stakeholders in completing track maintenance to schedule and standards
- Produce site reports detailing required repairs, timescales, and investment
- Own the track maintenance budget and report monthly on P&L
- Provide on-call technical advice and protect Freightliner’s interests during main-line incidents
- Take the Silver Command role for T&RS when required
- Lead track technical investigations
- Perform other track-related duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven track record of successfully managing a team
- Experience in railway track infrastructure
- Proactive, innovative, and creative approach to problem solving
- Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Confident and diplomatic approach with staff, colleagues, and customers
- Ability to produce clear and concise reports
- Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure while making key decisions
- Numerical and analytical skills with ability to interpret data and present it clearly and logically
- Working knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft and Outlook
- On-call safety-of-the-line responsibilities
- Ability to motivate and drive a team to deliver high standards
- Flexible approach to working hours due to on-call responsibility
- Willingness to undertake UK travel, including overnight stays
- Successful completion of employment references, medical and D&A screening, and DBS background checks
