About the role

  • Reporting to the Financial Controller, our Accountant will assist the Freestar team in preparing, reviewing and maintaining financial transactions, documents and reports.
  • In this role, you have a unique opportunity to impact our client experience by ensuring our stakeholders, including publishers, vendors, and fellow employees receive timely and trustworthy information.
  • As part of the Finance and Accounting team, you will provide a clear picture of the Company’s financial position and performance to enable decisions which inform the Company’s future decisions.
  • Full-cycle accounting, including
  • Preparing and potential review of journal entries
  • Processing transactions (e.g., A/R, A/P)
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining supporting schedules
  • Devising methodologies to estimate accrued liabilities
  • Researching accounting standards to propose accounting treatments as the need arises
  • Verifying the accuracy of publisher payments
  • Leading outstanding receivable collection efforts
  • Maintaining clearly documented working papers and support for ledger accounts utilizing team systems and protocols.
  • Working with multiple internal teams to analyze, maintain and balance complex spreadsheets
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Acting as a primary point of contact on requests and questions from tax and audit teams to facilitate financial statement audit and tax filings

Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in an accounting role
  • Advanced expertise in US GAAP and familiarity with international accounting frameworks
  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Excel
  • Experience with accounting consolidation and reporting among multiple entities
  • Experience with US payroll, including federal, state and local filings
  • Experience developing, implementing, and adhering to internal controls
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both clearly and concisely, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service skills: able to explain financial/billing concepts to various stakeholders
  • Self starter being able to work autonomously, including the ability to research accounting issues and guidance
  • Problem solving: being adaptable and can roll with the punches that come with a tech company
  • Strong ability to think analytically
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
  • Being excited to work in a complex, fast paced environment
  • Working availability during Eastern Standard Time and Pacific Time working hours
