About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of transportation design and planning professionals across four North Texas offices
  • Develop and execute the group’s strategy, annual operating plan, budget and performance goals
  • Build client relationships, guide business development efforts and position the team for strategic pursuits
  • Direct workload planning, hiring and staffing to align team capacity with current and future project needs
  • Coach and develop employees, strengthen team engagement and build succession plans for key leadership and technical roles
  • Support Project Managers in delivering work that meets scope, schedule, budget, quality and client expectations
  • Monitor financial and operational performance, identify trends and take action to support the group’s long-term health
  • Partner with leaders across Transportation and other practices to share resources, advance technical excellence and pursue growth opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in technical design, project management, personnel leadership and organizational leadership
  • Proven success building client relationships, developing business and delivering technical projects
  • Experience leading teams, managing performance and developing employees for greater responsibility
  • Ability to make informed decisions related to staffing, budgets, quality, risk and client service
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering, business or a related technical field
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer license
  • Preferred: Experience in the consulting industry
  • Preferred: Experience leading transportation design or planning work for county, municipal or state transportation clients
  • Preferred: Experience serving as a senior advisor, quality control reviewer or technical leader on complex roadway projects
