About the role

  • Responsible for force structure, guard force supervision, and security of Corporate office locations, and coordination of domestic security issues, particularly those related to policy, access control, transportation security, and product theft prevention.
  • Continuously assess and address threats to Corporate facilities including terrorist, workplace violence, civil disturbance, vandalism, theft, unauthorized access, and other threats to company personnel, assets, and corporate reputation.
  • Coordinate North American access control and video surveillance initiatives, and direct responsibility for security at Corporate facilities (including badge issuance, access control, and video surveillance monitoring).
  • Respond to contingency events including threats, sabotage, workplace violence, and severe weather conditions through onsite security force or with the assistance of government law enforcement agencies.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local law enforcement, security and/or safety related organizations such as Police, Sheriff, Fire, EMS, Secret Service, and the F.B.I.
  • Advise and assist in formulation of company policy on security related matters as requested and actively promote security awareness within company staff.
  • Represent Security for Corporate working group for North American product shipment/logistics loss considerations.
  • Conduct security reviews and inspections in support of the above (including electronic security detection).
  • Actively promote security awareness within company staff and conduct new hire security orientation briefings.
  • Plan for emergency preparedness contingencies and function as an advisor to the crisis management team as required.
  • Assist with development of evacuation plans for corporate facilities, drills, and be responsible for associated security issues.
  • Budget, forecast, and manage contracts for the activities above.
  • Hire and manage contract/proprietary guard force personnel for day-to-day operations and special events.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in criminal justice, security management, or related fields, AND fifteen (15) years progressive experience in all areas of physical and personnel security, training and investigations, and risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Including minimum of five (5) years law enforcement, military, or diplomatic operations management experience, OR High School diploma or GED AND nineteen (19) years related experience, including supervisory or management experience, and minimum of five (5) years law enforcement, military, or diplomatic operations management experience
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of management in both oral and written scenarios.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office package.
  • Must be familiar with access control systems and functions, CCTV, guard force management, security operations and functions.
  • Able to function independently, under pressure and perform multiple functions and duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Subject matter expert on physical security and access control.
  • Corporate subject matter expert on prevention, detection, and immediate actions related to workplace violence scenarios.
  • An ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with civil organizations and law enforcement agencies and represent Freeport corporate interests with external organizations.
  • Skill to work collaboratively with other corporate functions including Human Resources, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Transportation, and others.
  • Understanding industrial relations principles to address internal theft and behavioral problems in the work place.
  • Ability to conduct specific subject matter and situation briefings.
  • Exercise sound judgment with competing demands, and the ability to exercise discretion concerning corporate activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to appreciate the perspective of team members ranging from a contract guard force to C-suite executives and board members.
  • General managerial, administrative, and planning skills.
  • Logistic knowledge.
  • Cost and accounting knowledge to allow cost-effective performance, and operating within a budget.
  • Understanding of human rights issues associated with public, private, and corporate security functions.
