About the role

  • Doctors are overworked, burnt out, and are quitting in masses; Freed combines clinician love with AI to create products that make clinicians happier
  • First product: an AI scribe that automates medical documentation
  • Since May 2023: acquired 20,000 paying clinicians; generated 70,000 patient notes daily and over 2 million monthly
  • Backed by Sequoia Capital and other VCs; expanding product offering (patient-facing assistants, patient insights, EHR integrations)
  • Office in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule (teams come together three days a week)
  • Role: Lead design for core product areas, own end-to-end user experience, partner with engineering/product/design, and help evolve MVPs into polished, scalable products rooted in clinician needs

Requirements

  • Lead design for core product areas — from problem framing to polished execution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with a small team of engineering, product, and design peers to shape product strategy and roadmap
  • Bring the clinician voice into the room — through research, usability testing, and systems thinking — and advocate for their needs across product decisions
  • Create intuitive, clean, and thoughtful UI that balances user needs with product complexity
  • Work scrappily when needed, and raise the bar when it matters — sweat the details, but know how to move fast
  • Help us evolve our design system and shape design culture
  • Have 7+ years of experience designing and shipping high-impact end-to-end products
  • Can navigate ambiguity and break down complex problems into simple, clear user experiences
  • Are a strategic thinker who can contribute beyond design — to product and business direction
  • You value clarity and precision in both your design and your communication
  • You’re excited about the potential of AI and eager to explore new UX paradigms in AI-first products
  • Thrive in early-stage, fast-moving teams
  • Experience in healthcare is not required, but a passion for healthcare and helping others is a must.
  • Experience working closely with LLMs or AI-driven features
