Adapt Free Press and Free Press Action print resources, reports, issue briefs, and policy guides from English into Spanish for U.S. Spanish-speaking audiences
Go beyond literal, word-for-word translation to produce materials that read as if originally written for Spanish speakers
Work closely with the Free Press Senior Producer and Strategist to review, revise, and finalize each piece before publication
Produce Spanish-language versions of Free Press and Free Press Action press releases on an as-needed basis
Curate and maintain a Free Press Spanish-language glossary, including the organization’s most frequently used terms, phrases, and proper names
Ensure consistency across all Spanish-language materials by applying and updating this living reference document
Flag usage decisions or terminology questions for editor review
Copyedit all Spanish-language content

Requirements

Be a writer and editor first — someone who writes in Spanish naturally and accessibly
Demonstrated experience writing for U.S. Spanish-speaking audiences
Strong command of journalistic and policy writing in both English and Spanish
Proven ability to match tone, voice, and level of formality to the intended audience and format
Experience working with editorial style guides; ability to contribute to and maintain one
Self-directed, organized, and able to manage two distinct workflows with different timelines
Passion for free speech, racial justice, and media access
Commitment to Free Press’s mission of fighting for everyone’s rights to connect and communicate
