About the role
- You provide legal advice — in cooperation with and in consultation with the legal departments of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft — on all legal questions relating to research and development agreements with national and international contracting parties.
- You draft, negotiate and conclude contracts — in coordination with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft legal departments — for clinical trials under the German Medicines Act (Arzneimittelgesetz, AMG) and the European Clinical Trial Regulation, as well as contracts related to the manufacture of medicinal products and medical devices.
- You support and coordinate cooperation between the legal departments and serve as the interface between the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and our industry partners.
- In your work you constantly operate in the tension between the interests of a publicly funded research institution and the expectations of our industrial clients.
- You independently prepare proposals for our industry partners, negotiate confidentiality agreements (NDAs) and bring both to conclusion.
- You assist in drafting and negotiating Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) as well as Letters of Intent / Memoranda of Understanding (LOIs / MOUs).
- You draft and maintain contracts for Fraunhofer ITMP that relate to our daily research operations.
- You handle export control and related legal questions arising from research projects at Fraunhofer ITMP.
- In addition, you contribute to the implementation, monitoring and optimization of internal processes.
Requirements
- Successfully completed law studies and successful Second State Examination (qualification as a fully qualified lawyer).
- Professional experience in contract law and pharmaceutical law, preferably with a focus on clinical trials or the manufacture of medicinal products and medical devices.
- Ideally basic knowledge of data protection, export control and public procurement law.
- Confident manner when dealing with our industry partners and enjoyment in advising our scientists.
- Interest in and willingness to work into complex scientific and technical subjects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong negotiation ability in German and English.
