About the role
- Take the lead on assigned aspects of engineering needs related to advanced applications engineering, product improvement, cost optimization, test lab performance certifications, and technical literature including product specifications
- Provide engineering support for new product development, production, and maintenance throughout the complete life cycle of the product
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering documentation, data collection and analyzation, new product launches and continuous improvement throughout the engineering process
- Perform advanced hydraulic and mechanical engineering duties: product development, design improvement, production drawings, engineering and services support, failure analysis reporting, project budgeting and tracking, engineering review for active projects and quality control
- Advise on pump repair pertaining to material selection, impeller diameter trimming, hydraulic and mechanical performance, assemblies, and quality control
- Prepare technical reports documenting product design development, failure analysis and laboratory testing programs
- Review designs to ensure manufacturability and perform visual teardown & inspection analysis with probable cause failure reports and repair plans
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree (required)
- Seven years of related experience (required)
- Five years of experience in running up to level 2 FEA analysis (required)
- Advanced hydraulic/mechanical understanding of various types of pumps; especially vertical turbine pumps and their components
- Advanced pump applications experience
- General working knowledge of pumping system components and various configurations for pre-packaged pumping systems design
- Advanced: Contact management, presentation/PowerPoint, spreadsheet, MS Office, Auto CAD, SolidWorks and/or other engineering design software
- Intermediate: Word processing/typing, alphanumeric data entry
- Basic: 10-key, database, programming languages
