About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and mentor a team of three device software engineers, with plans to grow the team
Direct and guide firmware and BIOS engineers at JDM partners
Own architecture and implementation of embedded firmware for products on the roadmap
Establish engineering best practices, including automated regression testing and AI tool usage
Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Program Management, and other teams to align firmware releases with hardware NPI milestones
Ensure stable firmware from prototype bring-up through product launch
Own post-launch firmware sustaining and maintenance, including security updates, bug fixes, OS updates, and feature improvements and additions
Guide and level up engineering teams at key partners and suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of experience in embedded software development
3+ years of experience managing teams of engineers
Familiarity with UEFI BIOS and embedded controller development on modern PC platforms
Experience deploying code review, continuous integration, automated regression testing, and embedded software release processes
Deep understanding of PC architecture and electrical systems related to firmware development
Expertise working with external partners in a highly leveraged execution model
Strong cross-functional communication and documentation skills
English fluency
Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development and upstreaming is nice to have
Expertise with Windows driver development and WHQL processes is nice to have
Experience with USB-PD firmware is nice to have
Experience leading adoption of AI and automation tools is nice to have
Background using Zephyr and/or open source UEFI/BIOS projects is nice to have
