About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and mentor a team of three device software engineers, with plans to grow the team
  • Direct and guide firmware and BIOS engineers at JDM partners
  • Own architecture and implementation of embedded firmware for products on the roadmap
  • Establish engineering best practices, including automated regression testing and AI tool usage
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Program Management, and other teams to align firmware releases with hardware NPI milestones
  • Ensure stable firmware from prototype bring-up through product launch
  • Own post-launch firmware sustaining and maintenance, including security updates, bug fixes, OS updates, and feature improvements and additions
  • Guide and level up engineering teams at key partners and suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams of engineers
  • Familiarity with UEFI BIOS and embedded controller development on modern PC platforms
  • Experience deploying code review, continuous integration, automated regression testing, and embedded software release processes
  • Deep understanding of PC architecture and electrical systems related to firmware development
  • Expertise working with external partners in a highly leveraged execution model
  • Strong cross-functional communication and documentation skills
  • English fluency
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development and upstreaming is nice to have
  • Expertise with Windows driver development and WHQL processes is nice to have
  • Experience with USB-PD firmware is nice to have
  • Experience leading adoption of AI and automation tools is nice to have
  • Background using Zephyr and/or open source UEFI/BIOS projects is nice to have
