About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the upgrade and migration of Active Directory Domain Controllers from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2022
- Coordinate deployment and configuration of new infrastructure servers while decommissioning legacy systems
- Lead migration of FSMO roles and ensure stable operation of the new AD DC environment
- Plan and oversee migration and reconfiguration of IIS services and related dependencies
- Drive the separation of File Servers into dedicated infrastructure according to updated internal architecture standards
- Implement publication and management of shared resources through DFS namespaces and replication
- Lead migration and modernization of Remote Desktop Services (RDS) infrastructure
- Coordinate secure migration of file shares and business-critical data to new File Servers
- Ensure infrastructure naming conventions, policies, and configurations comply with internal standards
- Manage migration timelines, risks, dependencies, rollback planning, and service continuity
- Document project stages, infrastructure changes, migration procedures, and operational guidelines
- Collaborate with IT, Security, and Infrastructure teams on hardening, optimization, and implementation best practices
- Support post-migration validation, troubleshooting, and performance improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft infrastructure administration and infrastructure projects
- Strong experience with Active Directory Domain Services, including FSMO role migration and domain controller upgrades
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 environments
- Solid understanding of DFS namespaces and DFS replication
- Experience leading File Server migration projects and storage-related infrastructure changes
- Practical experience with IIS migration and administration
- Experience with RDS migration and support
- Good understanding of Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows authentication mechanisms
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation
- Experience coordinating infrastructure migration projects and working with multiple stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting, planning, and documentation skills
- Ability to lead infrastructure transformations with minimal downtime and operational impact
