About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for accurate claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement for behavioral health services.
  • Supports daily billing operations and works closely with internal teams and insurance payors to resolve billing issues.
  • Submit clean claims to commercial and government payors.
  • Review and correct claim rejections and denials.
  • Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately.
  • Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
  • Review explanations of benefits and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate billing documentation and records.
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status.
  • Collaborate with admissions, utilization review, and clinical teams as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with billing regulations and organizational policies.
  • Assist with audits and reporting as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of medical billing experience preferred.
  • Behavioral health billing experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance billing processes.
  • Experience with electronic billing systems and EHRs.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and prioritization.
  • Clear and professional communication.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
