About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the single point of contact for members throughout the mortgage process.
- Ensure each mortgage file is processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Gather required documentation and prepare loans for Underwriting.
- Oversee the loan process from initial disclosure through closing and provide ongoing member communication.
- Manage residential real estate loan documentation and review files for completeness and regulatory and policy compliance.
- Guide mortgage applicants through the process using communication protocols and follow-up.
- Verify file information from the Mortgage Application Processor and Mortgage Loan Officer.
- Review submitted interest rates, determine whether rates can be locked, and lock application rates when needed.
- Work with Mortgage Loan Officers and mortgage staff to handle applications professionally and promptly.
- Satisfy loan conditions, track outstanding documents, and follow up with members.
- Determine loan-file readiness for underwriting and submit files to assigned Mortgage Underwriters.
- Validate loan approvals against established lending guidelines.
- Review credit reports for derogatory credit lines, disputes, and other relevant factors.
- Prepare initial and final mortgage documents using MortgageBot, Imageflow, and DocMagic.
- Communicate with appraisers, settlement agents, county clerks, insurance companies, and other industry professionals.
- Request and follow up on real estate appraisals, title opinions, and title commitments.
- Verify insurance policies, including policyholders, property address, coverage amounts, dates, and premiums.
- Ensure loan files contain proper signatures, dates, HMDA, escrow, and other relevant data.
- Upload and accurately index mortgage documentation into ImageFlow.
- Set and confirm closing dates and maintain the SharePoint Closing Calendar.
- Verify employment and mortgage/rent information when needed.
- Achieve production goals established by Founders Federal Credit Union.
- Comply with Founders’ policies and applicable laws, regulations, and statutes, including NCUA, FFIEC, GLB, and BSA requirements.
- Protect the privacy, integrity, and confidentiality of member information.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a two-year college degree, two years of prior loan processing experience, or two years of experience within a financial institution.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and self-motivation skills.
- Positive attitude and desire to learn.
- Ability to accept coaching.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- General knowledge of the real estate industry is desired.
- Availability Monday–Thursday, 8am–5pm, and Friday, 8am–6pm.
- Must maintain integrity of member-sensitive data.
- Must be able to manage a high-volume work queue and multitask accurately.
- Pre-employment criminal background check required.
- Pre-employment drug screen required.
- Pre-employment consumer credit investigation required.
- Previous employer reference check required.
