About the role
- Generate working design concepts and costs for material handling systems based on AutoCAD layouts and equipment lists
- Use FORTNA costing toolset to generate mechanical equipment costs for new systems, modifications, and change orders
- Collaborate with internal departments to estimate mechanical/controls engineering, installation, project management, freight, permits, etc.
- Evaluate customer RFQ documents and ensure costing meets requirements and specifications
- Generate RFQ documentation for external material and labor suppliers
- Produce proposal documentation in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Lead customer design review meetings and executive level scope/costing review meetings with stakeholders and customers
- Develop and maintain knowledge of customer specifications and conveyor components (drives, belting, sorters)
- Analyze system layouts and flow rates; work primarily in brownfield environments to manage product flow around existing conveyance and structures
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or a related field
- 2-4+ years’ experience in the material handling industry
- 2-4+ years’ experience estimating project costs (desired)
- Ability to analyze and modify AutoCAD 2D drawings
- Experience with 3D modeling software(s) (Demo3D, Inventor, HyCAD)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic working knowledge of control systems related to material handling systems (desired)
- AMR / AGV / Robotics experience (a plus)
- Ability to communicate, both orally and written, at all levels of the business and with customers
- Ability to perform detailed oriented work and keep excellent records
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities
- Ability to coordinate and lead executive level project cost review meetings
- Valid Driver’s License required; Valid Passport a plus
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% to customer sites or internal meetings
- PPE may be required; some climbing may be required at customer locations
