Staff Systems Engineer – Electrical Calibration
FortiveStaff Systems Engineer providing system-level technical leadership for Electrical Calibration products. Owns system behavior across hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing at Fluke.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and evolve system architectures for sustaining and next-generation ECAL platforms.
- Serve as technical authority for tradeoffs (accuracy, stability, control, thermals, cost, risk, and supportability).
- Guide architecture across Electrical, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Service.
- Define, document, and manage system requirements that translate customer, regulatory, and metrology needs into executable designs.
- Ensure requirements traceability from concept through verification, production, and sustaining.
- Lead system-level design reviews and provide technical direction on complex or ambiguous problems.
- Provide senior technical leadership for sustaining programs, including component EOL mitigation, factory transfers, performance improvements, and field issue resolution.
- Ensure system integrity and calibration performance are preserved across design changes and manufacturing updates.
- Act as a key knowledge steward for long-lived platforms, supporting onboarding and technical continuity.
- Ensure system designs are robust, manufacturable, and verifiable, supporting low-volume / high-mix production environments.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams to define test strategies, calibration flows, and service models.
- Support verification and validation activities to ensure products meet Fluke standards for accuracy, safety, and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management to align technical decisions with business and customer priorities.
- Influence without authority across multiple teams and sites, including global development and manufacturing partners.
- Communicate complex system concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Extensive experience in system-level design and technical leadership for complex electronic products.
- Strong foundation in precision analog and digital electronics, control systems, and calibration or measurement systems.
- Proven ability to lead technical direction across disciplines without direct managerial authority.
- Experience working with microprocessors, DSPs, FPGAs, and laboratory instrumentation (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, calibrators).
- Strong technical documentation, review, and communication skills.
