About the role
- Own intake, triage, prioritization, and flow of engineering workflows including ECR/ECO, VAVE, customs configurations, engineering services support request and related sustaining workstreams across multiple global sites.
- Establish and maintain clear workflows, decision criteria, and escalation paths.
- Ensure engineering work is in the appropriate workstream, prioritized, assigned, and actively progressing.
- Track and manage operational KPIs such as backlog health, OTD, rework, and aging.
- Own SolidWorks standards, templates, libraries, and best practices
- Provide design engineering oversight and technical gatekeeping.
- Review and approve drawings and design outputs as required by process.
- Serve as owner and administrator for multiple global sites using SolidWorks CAD and PDM vault.
- Own system configuration for access, permissions, lifecycle states, and workflow routing.
- Design, implement, and evolve workflows supporting sustaining, engineering change, and NPI activities.
- Partner with IT and other stakeholders on system stability, upgrades, and adoption.
- Ensure PDM is a trusted system of record for engineering, product development data and associated files.
- Own configuration management rules and governance across CAD, PDM, PIM, Website and ERP data sources. Ensure single source of truth and digital thread for product definition.
- Ensure alignment and integrity of CAD models, drawings, bills of material, and item master data.
- Define release criteria, change rules, approval requirements, and lifecycle transitions.
- Manage inactive, obsolescence, and end‑of‑life transitions.
- Protect downstream manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial operations from data errors.
- Lead and develop Design Engineering resources that will work across a variety of sustaining engineering projects, and new product development scale-up projects.
- Manage appropriate workload to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Coach team members toward increased capability, cross-training, tool utilization, and effectiveness.
- Build a sustainable operating model built on standard work, process governance, and accountability.
- Partner closely with Product Assurance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams.
- Support VAVE, lifecycle optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a central point of contact for engineering systems, data, and workflow topics.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in design engineering, sustaining engineering, project engineering and/or execution of engineering change management work streams
- Expert knowledge of SolidWorks CAD as user, mechanical designer and Administrator
- Expert knowledge of SolidWorks enterprise PDM as Implementor and Administrator
- Strong knowledge of mechanical product design
- Strong knowledge in ERP databases – JD Edward (JDE) is a plus
- Strong knowledge with integration of multiple database platforms for master data control and engineering change management processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, define processes, and operate effectively in a multisite, cross‑functional environment
