About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the company’s primary subject matter expert on complex US GAAP accounting issues; research, draft, and maintain technical accounting memoranda and corporate accounting policies.
- Proactively monitor, evaluate, and implement new FASB and SEC accounting pronouncements across the organization.
- Own the accounting framework for revenue recognition across multiple customer projects, applying ASC 606 to complex multi-element contracts including percentage-of-completion for construction projects.
- Partner with Commercial, Legal, and Project teams during contract negotiations to assess financial impacts and optimize revenue recognition structures.
- Establish and maintain robust accounting models for product and project warranties, incorporating historical data, engineering inputs, and failure rate analysis.
- Lead end-to-end preparation, review, and filing of all external financial reports — Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and Annual Proxy — including XBRL tagging and MD&A disclosures.
- Manage the accounting, valuation, and reporting for all equity-based compensation plans (ASC 718), including monthly SBC expense, EPS, and deferred tax impacts.
- Serve as the principal liaison to external auditors for technical accounting, equity, revenue, and SEC reporting areas.
- Direct maintenance and execution of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404) for all owned cycles.
- Drive continuous process improvements and automation within financial close and reporting workflows.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 or large national public accounting firm background combined with public company corporate accounting experience highly desirable.
- Deep, authoritative knowledge of US GAAP (specifically ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 460/Warranty) and SEC reporting regulations.
- Prior experience in manufacturing and/or construction (percentage-of-completion accounting) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with enterprise-grade ERP systems (Oracle) and specialized SEC reporting software (Workiva).
- CPA license highly preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (Master’s/MBA preferred).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical accounting concepts for executive and non-finance stakeholders.
