Forestry Manager

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Expand FSC-certified forest area across Romania
- Influence policy, market dynamics, and stakeholder alignment
- Act as a key representative of FSC in the national forest sector
- Translate strategy into measurable impact on the ground
- Develop and execute a national strategy for FSC Forest Management certification
- Build and manage a pipeline of certification opportunities
- Expand FSC-certified forest area and number of certificate holders
- Engage with key stakeholders including forest owners and government institutions
- Support implementation of the FSC Forest Stewardship Standard
- Provide technical guidance to stakeholders
- Deliver trainings and workshops to promote FSC
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years in forestry, sustainability, certification, or related fields
- Strong understanding of the Romanian forestry sector and governance landscape
- Experience engaging with government and industry stakeholders
- FSC or certification experience is a strong plus
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Ability to combine technical expertise with strategic thinking
- Project management and execution capability
- Government engagement experience in the field of forestry
- Auditing experience is an advantage
- High level of independence and accountability
- Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field
- Fluency in Romanian and English
