About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect and develop vehicle features at the systems level from early concept through production, including feature upgrades and migrations
  • Define network, wiring, and power distribution topologies, schematics, and block diagrams while allocating features to cost, quality, and performance targets
  • Develop feature, functional, and implementation specifications, DFMEA/Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, verification plans, functional safety assessments, and cybersecurity assessments and mitigations
  • Use Python, C++, MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and MagicDraw to define logical architectures, develop and execute control strategies, and validate logic through SiL testing
  • Develop and maintain BDD scripts using Gherkin, create and manage Behave step definitions in Python, and ensure requirement-to-test traceability with JAMA and Jira
  • Champion Failure Mode Avoidance/DFMEA workshops and apply Six Sigma DMAIC/DFSS principles
  • Analyze warranty and quality metrics, including GQRS and AWS, to drive design improvements
  • Collaborate with product, program, core engineering, multifunctional teams, and suppliers; lead trade-off discussions and identify technology and cost/quality opportunities
  • Communicate complex systems, issues, and resolutions clearly and apply connected data and analytics to build customer understanding
  • Serve as a key specialist in next-generation vehicle development, leading design, validation, and optimization of complex vehicle features

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering, preferably automotive
  • 3+ years of experience with vehicle electrical systems/features, including electrical module design, networking, wiring, power distribution, body/chassis systems, and CAN and Ethernet protocols
  • 3+ years of cross-functional collaboration resolving software/CAN communication issues and ability to work within Agile teams using Epics and Sagas
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • 3+ years of advanced proficiency in MATLAB Simulink and strong Python coding skills for scripting and test automation
  • 2+ years of experience with BDD/Gherkin testing frameworks and test automation workflows
  • 3+ years of experience with the systems engineering V-model, DFMEA/Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies, quality documentation, and specification/requirements writing
  • 3+ years of experience training others in simulation/robustness tools and identifying system gaps using data-driven approaches
  • 3+ years of strong systems thinking and analytical skills, with excellent written/verbal communication and resilience under pressure
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Master's Degree in a relevant engineering field and 5+ years of automotive engineering experience are listed as additional qualifications
  • Additional preferred qualifications include Seat experience, full software lifecycle experience, electrical D&R/testing, functional safety, cybersecurity, Ford internal tools, AUTOSAR, and Git/GitHub
