About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and lead a dedicated Process Control Team within Global Manufacturing Engineering across Strategy/Process and Plant Implementation workstreams
- Review Significant and Critical Characteristics from Product Development to enhance Control Plans
- Provide strategic engineering recommendations and determine design or tooling enablers for enhanced control methods
- Direct updates to Control Plans and review PFMEAs for alignment with quality documents
- Lead cross-functional reviews with Product Development, Quality, and VME stakeholders
- Drive interim versus permanent control strategies and secure signed exceptions for interim actions
- Oversee creation, auditing, and updating of PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Process Sheets
- Deliver executive-level report-outs on risk-reduction metrics and project status
- Support real-time data visualization dashboards tracking progress across facilities
- Guide development of action plans and Statements of Work for process-control tooling
- Support supplier quote acquisition, funding, and tooling-upgrade requisitions across North American Vehicle Operations plants
- Lead onsite execution of interim containment solutions and permanent controls
- Deploy engineers to supervise installation of equipment, vision systems, error-proofing systems, and smart tools
- Coordinate labor estimates, operations updates, and installation and operationalization of tooling and software
- Establish validation criteria with plant operations and IT teams
- Develop long-term sustainment plans with plant maintenance and operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related field)
- 5+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, or Product Development
- Deep understanding of APQP, including Control Plans, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Significant/Critical Characteristics
- Proven experience bridging vehicle design/engineering and plant-floor manufacturing feasibility
- Willingness to travel as needed for North American Assembly Plant installations and execution
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred: hands-on experience developing, procuring, and installing advanced Vision Systems and Error-Proofing tools
- Preferred: extensive automotive final assembly plant experience, including tooling installations and launch cycles across multiple facilities
- Preferred: experience writing Statements of Work, evaluating supplier quotes, and managing external tooling suppliers
- Preferred: ability to negotiate complex quality issues across PD, Quality, VME, and VO
- Preferred: project management experience tracking multiple complex workstreams across geographic locations
- Preferred: knowledge of Ford systems including FEDE, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS/Auros, and AIS
- Preferred: experience working effectively under stressful conditions and aggressive timing constraints
- Preferred: experience developing or managing Power BI or similar data visualization dashboards
