About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop and release systems, subsystems, and components meeting program requirements and timing in accordance with Ford GPDS milestones
- Lead or support resolution of design, manufacturing, quality, and launch issues
- Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets, drawings, and specifications
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and analyze verification testing against established targets
- Direct and guide suppliers through effective CPMT meetings to ensure program objectives are met
- Analyze customer feedback on system or component performance, identify improvements, and implement measures to prevent recurrence
- Lead or support TVM cost reduction activities
- Travel as necessary to Ford assembly plants, facilities, and supplier/sub-supplier sites for issue resolution and build support
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in mechanical engineering or related field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, high-performing team
- MS in mechanical engineering or related field preferred
- Prior design and release experience preferred
- Proven delivery of balanced Quality, Cost, Weight, and Functional attributes for components/subsystems preferred
- Experience using Six Sigma and problem-solving tools, including 8D and 3-legged 5 Whys, preferred
- Knowledge of internal combustion engine functions and components preferred
- Knowledge of GD&T/dimensional control, PPAP, and APQP principles preferred
- Experience executing quality documentation such as FMEAs, Control Plans, and SCCAFs preferred
- Basic knowledge of NVH, materials, durability, and manufacturing processes preferred
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
