About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the voice of the automotive technician, subject matter expert for Ford’s dealership diagnostic processes and real-world diagnostic experiences that occur at dealerships
  • Author and own functional diagnostic and prognostic requirements that describe technician use cases; co-author and champion logical requirements that meet those use cases
  • Create and facilitate training, demos, and service trials for the purpose of up-skilling our PD partners in the realities of dealership diagnostic and prognostic experiences
  • Provide strategic oversite, partnership, and project management for special cross-functional projects, including “shift left” process improvements to pull diagnostic design ahead in the development cycle
  • Develop business cases weighing the cost of design improvement or development effort against potential Cost Per Repair and Warranty Cost Avoidance improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience and education (Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years of work experience in hands-on diagnostics at either a dealership, automotive OEM or supplier
  • 2+ years of experience managing multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously
  • Domain expertise in automotive dealership diagnosis and repair across a broad range of systems/components
  • Familiarity and experience with overall automotive dealership service operations
  • Working knowledge of CAN-based diagnostics and software updates
  • Working knowledge of connected vehicle data and telematics
  • Theoretical and industry knowledge of diagnostic and prognostic processes
  • Proven experience with Interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, network topologies and feature boundary diagrams
  • Experience authoring technical documents, including requirements, specifications, work instructions, and training
  • Proven ability to tell a compelling data-driven story to gain stakeholder alignment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in varying areas of the organization (Senior leadership, Cross-functional departments, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, be forward-thinking and pay consistent attention to detail
