About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor and investigate real-time fraud alerts across online banking platforms and payment systems (ACH, Wires, and Mobile Check Deposits).
  • Monitor and investigate real-time account activity to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Engage directly with customers to verify flagged transactions and resolve unauthorized activity with a focus on professional communication and customer experience.
  • Work with internal stakeholders (Compliance, Legal, Cybersecurity) to remediate confirmed fraud and mitigate future risks.
  • Process disputes and recover fraudulent funds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fraud analysis, financial crimes investigation, transaction monitoring, dispute/chargeback processing, or banking operations.
  • General knowledge of different types of fraud characteristics (e.g., identity theft, unauthorized access).
  • Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to manage conflict and challenge existing processes and controls.
  • Working knowledge of Regulation E (Electronic Fund Transfer Act) and dispute resolution timelines/requirements.
  • Understanding of BSA/AML basics and SAR filing triggers.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet regulatory deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information
  • Experience in a de novo, fintech, or high-velocity online banking environment.
  • Strong data analytic skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Inquisitive nature with high attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure during critical payment investigations.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are a plus
