About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Know the exterior glass commodity parts and understand cost drivers to deliver cost targets
- Develop, maintain, and execute the glass Commodity Business Plan (CBP) strategy
- Foster professional and healthy supplier partnerships
- Lead, plan, develop, and implement supplier commercial negotiations
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams regionally and/or globally
- Quote, negotiate and source suppliers for the purchase price of production parts, and tooling
- Complete sourcing activities and recommend suppliers for new program lamps
- Establish and implement sourcing strategy for exterior glass (i.e., windshields, backlites, roof glass, etc.)
- Assist in the resolution of cost, quality, and delivery issues affecting the supply
- Support GCT Buyers in both Service and Production and cross-functional partners to develop strategies and implement solutions
- Identify and implement cost reductions
- Negotiate cost avoidances for suppliers requesting cost increases.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
- 2-3+ years of purchasing experience focused on Glass commodity or 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, and/or sourcing experience with general automotive purchasing
- Previous Purchasing experience with glass, electrical, mechanical, or physical components
- Ability to work onsite 4-days per week in the Dearborn, MI area for a hybrid model
- Even better, you may have...
- Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
- 5+ years of purchasing experience focused on Glass commodity
- Human Center Design Thinking
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making
- Ability to conduct sourcing evaluations / business case studies and present clear recommendations to leadership
- Ability to build network relationships with cross-functional skill teams (PD, STA, finance, and OGC)
- Project management skills and process discipline
