About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Integrate EPAS hardware and software components into vehicle platforms.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of control algorithms for EPAS systems. Ensure the control software is properly calibrated and tuned for various vehicle dynamics.
- Work with the design and development engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure steering functions and components have appropriate requirements and interface definition to achieve their specific vehicle functions.
- Participate in functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems (HARA, FMEAs, etc.).
- Develop and refine calibration parameters for optimal EPAS performance across different driving conditions and vehicle types. Adjust assist curves, feedback torque, and other parameters to balance driver comfort and vehicle handling.
- Create and own steering HIL test setups to bench test firmware seeking bugs and regressions. Proficient with D-space, Vector HIL, CAPL and python scripting.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for EPAS systems, including lab-based and on-road testing. Analyze data to identify performance issues and develop solutions.
- Work closely with vehicle dynamics, safety, and ADAS teams to ensure EPAS integration aligns with overall vehicle performance goals. Participate in design reviews and provide technical input related to EPAS integration.
- Ensure that EPAS systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement fail-safe strategies to maintain basic steering capabilities in case of system failures. Participate with development of prototype vehicle training.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in EPAS technology and integrate innovative solutions into the system. Propose and implement improvements to enhance the reliability, performance, and user experience of EPAS systems.
- Write system requirements, document all integration and calibration processes, test results, and system configurations. Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and management to showcase progress and maturity at various program milestones.
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Embedded Systems
- Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals
- 3+ years of experience in automotive engineering with a focus on EPAS systems.
- Proven experience in integrating and calibrating EPAS or similar automotive control systems.
- 5+ years of experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN & Automotive Ethernet
- Proficiency in using calibration tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, CANalyzer).
- Experience and working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, emerging chassis system technologies, software/hardware tool development, brakes and steering system calibration, functional safety, network and diagnostics process.
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing safety-critical architectures
- 3+ years of experience using embedded networking interface tools for automotive, aerospace or similar
- 5+ years of experience in designing and launching new embedded products from concept to production
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Willingness to travel for testing and collaboration with other teams.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive test vehicles.
