About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • A Vehicle Thermal Systems CAE Engineer is responsible for analyzing the vehicle climate system that cools and heats the vehicle cabin and battery.
  • The engineer will use various CAE methods to quantify component and system level design impacts on climate system performance and power consumption.
  • Specific studies may include vehicle level climate performance predictions, refrigerant subsystem analysis, heater subsystem analysis, front end airflow, power consumption analysis, and review of physical test data.
  • Domestic Travel Required up to 10%.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing, analyzing, and designing automotive thermal systems utilizing concepts from fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heater transfer, and combustion.
  • 2. Modeling and conducting thermal/fluid CAE simulations using Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or GT-Suite.
  • 3. Utilizing CAD software tools including CATIA or Teamcenter to view or modify vehicle systems and components.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing and analyzing vehicle climate control performance using thermal data acquisition systems, CANoe, or MATLAB to validate test results and support CAE model development.
  • 2. Designing Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) thermal systems using one of the following thermal modeling applications: Fluent, STAR-CCM, or GT- Suite.
