About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage IPTSE GRID Database: Maintain list of IPTSE GRID items ensuring IPTSE team is assigned to support
  • Technical Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: For select projects lead and coordinate technical investigations into potentially critical safety defects, FMVSS non-compliance, and emission/environmental regulatory concerns. Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, FTA) to identify root causes.
  • CCRG & EPRC Interface: Support IPTSE teams in preparing and presenting technical data packages, risk assessments, and engineering recommendations to the CCRG (for safety/compliance) and EPRC (for emissions/environmental concerns).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Office of General Counsel (OGC), and plant vehicle teams to gather data, review supplier processes, and align on corrective actions.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, Environmental, or a related engineering discipline).
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in automotive product development, quality engineering, systems engineering, or regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle systems (powertrain, electrical, chassis, software, or emissions control systems).
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience in automotive root-cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Shainin, Six Sigma, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex technical data into clear, concise presentations for executive leadership and regulatory review boards.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams under tight timelines.
