About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop control systems for newest powertrain technologies.
  • Focus on analyzing customer needs and defining required architecture and functionality early in the development cycle.
  • Model and simulate propulsion system operation.
  • Design and implement control algorithms.
  • Validate designs in desktop simulation, hardware benches, test stands and prototype vehicles.
  • Work in Research and Advanced Engineering, developing technologies for future vehicle programs.
  • Take designs from desktop simulation to hardware testing and ultimately calibrate prototype vehicles.
  • Leverage modern software practices and AI coding assistants to accelerate development.
  • Harness cloud computing, wireless vehicle data, and AI/ML to develop predictive energy management systems.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • M.S. (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with a strong academic focus on control systems.
  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in dynamic systems modeling and real-time controls development for complex electromechanical systems (automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar).
  • Domain Knowledge: 3+ years in roles demonstrating deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and powertrain systems (hybrid/electric architectures, batteries, electric machines, and actuators).
  • Control Theory: 3+ years in roles requiring a solid foundation in advanced control theory, including filtering techniques, state estimation, and closed-loop feedback controls.
  • Software Toolkit: 3+ years in roles developing embedded controls software and analysis tools using MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python.
  • Systems Engineering: 3+ years in roles delivering within and adhering to standard systems engineering methodologies (FMEAs, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Mindset: 3+ years in roles where strong collaborative skills, excellent technical documentation ability, and a passion for solving highly complex, ambiguous problems where necessary for delivering outcomes.
