About the role

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis & Resolution: Guide engineering teams to determine root causes, develop robust and verified interim and permanent containment actions (ICA/PCA), and implement Prevent Recurrence Actions (PRA) for product failures encountered during test, launch, and post-launch phases.
  • Enhance Verification Methodologies: Develop and update verification methodologies to effectively demonstrate product robustness and achieve failure rate improvements.
  • Drive Lessons Learned & Process Improvement: Lead the identification and cascade of lessons learned by ensuring product Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs), Design Rules, Test methods, and corporate processes are updated accordingly.
  • Provide Problem-Solving & Statistical Support: Offer statistical and problem-solving support to the Product Development organization, including assisting with Six Sigma methodology training.
  • Communicate & Present Findings: Deliver clear and concise project presentations to senior management, outlining accomplishments, conclusions, and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Product Design with component/system design development
  • Demonstrated experience with the use or development of test methodologies to prove product robustness or failure rate improvement (e.g., Design-of-Experiments, A vs. B testing, Test-to-failure, Degradation analysis, Signal-to-Noise methodologies)
  • Master of Science (MS) degree or higher in Engineering (preferred)
  • Reliability Engineering degree (BS or MS) (preferred)
  • Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (DMAIC or DFSS) or evidence of strong problem-solving capabilities (preferred)
  • Experience in a Quality and/or Testing organization (preferred)
  • Working understanding of Functional Requirements, Failure Mode Effects, Causes, Severity, and Detection methods (DFMEAs)
  • Ability to develop clear working-level documents and management presentations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple unique tasks simultaneously
  • Ability and willingness to travel to both Ford and supplier domestic and foreign locations
  • Electric Vehicle or Software experience (preferred)
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at time of hire
