About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop vehicle systems electrical schematics that deliver compatible form and function that provide logical connectivity, electrical power distribution and grounding for all electric components (electronic modules, sensors, actuators, motors, etc.), while meeting all regulatory and company specific requirements, and executing corporate standards for Failure Mode Avoidance.
- Support prototype build events, including but not limited to Electrical Breadboard environment and Protype Vehicle, with the responsibility to flash and configure electronic modules, execute modules diagnostics self-test routines, perform functional tests, understand and solve Electronics Systems Integration issues that may happen due to hardware or software maturity, collect vehicle CAN communication logs to support troubleshoot work, interface with design engineers from other functional areas to root cause issues.
- Review the results of all Design Verification Tests that are needed to validate the Electrical Systems requirements to attest the outcomes meet or exceed the pass criteria - failures must be investigated, remediated, and retested to ensure effectiveness of any design change.
- Support Assembly Plant launch builds by providing “in loco” assistance during pre-production and production ramp-up builds, providing technical expertise to triage and root cause problems that may impact vehicle processing trough automated End Of Line tests, ensuring final product quality meets corporate standards.
- Domestic Travel Required up to 30%.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
- 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Designing vehicle level Electrical Systems Schematics. 2. Utilizing CAN Tools (Vector or Intrepid) to collect CAN logs, flash and configure modules. 3. Analyzing CAN logs to trace ECU communication, evaluate bus utilization and presence of error frames. 4. Utilizing electronics testing tools (oscilloscope and meters) to verify electrical circuit integrity, electrical signal form and quality.
- 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Analyzing Vehicle System Level test results for fuse pull and ground lift tests, evaluating performance results and proposing corrective actions when needed. 2. Utilizing the knowledge of Vehicle Electrical Systems Integration to execute initial issue triage assessment and assist functional areas performing root cause analysis. 3. Utilizing Failure Mode Avoidance tools to develop a robust design for Vehicle Electrical Systems Schematics, updating the FMA documentation with new failure modes when needed.
