About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for Powertrain Machining, located at plants in SE Michigan, Ohio, and Canada
  • Utilize machining process knowledge, particularly steel, iron, and aluminum metal cutting and grinding to deliver an efficient and optimized process regarding quality, costs, timing, and footprint.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume manufacturing operations.
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Machining feasibility issues.
  • Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
  • Initiate bids, evaluate, recap bids for equipment purchase; work with Purchasing to write and place orders.
  • Lead new program machining process installation, start-up, and commissioning at the manufacturing site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs @ vendor facilities.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
  • Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
  • Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related fields.
  • Min of 1-3 Years of Experience in Manufacturing
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to support launch programs on extended travel
  • Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
  • Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Familiarity of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma.
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.) (Even better)
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, CPARS (Even better)
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred but not mandatory (Even better)
  • Experience w/automotive assembly or machining tooling, processes and facilities preferred but not mandatory (Even better)
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Stator/Rotor Manufacturing, Machining, Cell Manufacturing, and Battery Assembly (Even better)
  • Error proofing (Even better)
