About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and Deliver core calibration content for Functional Safety (FuSa) and Dependability (DEP), spanning across various ICE powertrain technologies . Develop and maintain tools and methods critical to the FuSa/DEP calibration teams, such as calibration guidance documentation, vehicle validation methods, error-proofing methods, etc.
  • Lead FuSa/DEP calibration support of new powertrain technologies. Collaborate with FuSa work product owner(s), Controls personnel and Calibration colleagues, in coordination with FuSa/Dep Technical Specialist, to calibrate/validate experimental software in support of feature development.
  • Lead innovation workstreams to enable FuSa/DEP calibration/validation efficiencies, such as development and enhancement of automation analysis tools (ex: GTDM), as well as development and enhancement of test methods in non-vehicle based tool chains (ex: HIL, etc.).
  • Provide FuSa calibration support for quality investigations. Follow quality process methods to support closure of issues identified during program launch process, as well as items identified following initial product launch.
  • Some business travel is required to testing locations in Colorado, Arizona, Florida and Raco/Thompson. Average travel is 4-8 weeks per year.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 2+ years of professional experience.
  • Previous powertrain calibration experience preferred (prior Ford Calibration experience strongly preferred).
  • Previous functional safety experience preferred (prior Ford functional safety strongly preferred).
  • Desire for hands-on vehicle-level testing. Potential opportunities to develop HIL-based methods.
  • MS or MEng in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering preferred.
  • Solid understanding of electrical/electronic systems and software fundamentals.
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.
