About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The primary goal for NA Vehicle Logistics (NAVL) Quality & Claims is providing a damage-free vehicle to the final destination while maintaining cost, dwell, and other objectives. To deliver on the goal of becoming a leader in damage-free delivery, this candidate will focus on projects and establishing measurable goals to achieve and monitor the desired outcome
  • Meet and exceed NAVL Quality objectives by facilitating, improving, and implementing actions that will reduce transportation damage and dwell within the vehicle shipping process.
  • Quick analytical abilities to rapidly resolve issues as they arise.
  • Maintain & improve upon relationships between Ford and our finished vehicle logistics carrier partners to deliver best-in-class quality.
  • Devise and implement improvements in the overall in-transit repair (ITR) process for exception units
  • Perform load tests, as required, for future model vehicles and other key model changes on rail and/or carhaul to clearly document & define any potential concerns that could impact the ability to ship the unit damage-free and/or create load density issues that ultimately impact the cost to ship a unit.
  • Leverage BI Dashboard to identify where action is needed to significantly improve Ford's damage-free delivery performance and have critical conversations with carriers, as necessary.
  • Engage with Plant Quality and Production teams to cut-off repetitive exceptions that are flowing through the release gate. This data would be provided either by a carrier who expressly shares a concern or through the use of automated inspection systems that this candidate may also be responsible for managing and/or utilizing the data.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain various PO's necessary to support functions for this section.
  • Utilization of automated vehicle inspection systems and maintenance of projects surrounding this space.
  • Lead and establish quality reviews with carriers, as necessary.
  • Attend, as required, various industry conferences (AAR, AIAG, etc.)
  • Travel, as required (max 5 business days / month), to support various projects or activities. Travel is predominantly to Ford plant location areas but may also extend to destination locations.
  • Support direct communication to dealers from generic department mailbox.
  • Drive leadership within the Quality & Claims space of the industry.
  • Disposition of non-saleable as new (NSAN) units.
  • Manage necessary reinvoicing tasks as required
  • Engage and provide direction, as needed, with 3rd party claims management firm

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors of Business Administration
  • 3-5 years of experience within supply chain management
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions with limited supervision required.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional groups to resolve concerns
  • Excellent writing, oral, and presentation abilities as the successful candidate will also be communicating with Ford leadership, suppliers, and other 3rd parties that are often customer facing.
  • High level of analytical skills with a history of leveraging data, managing a project to deliver a solution, and validating that the action was successful towards delivering the desired outcome.
  • Must be open to travel
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks on any given day
  • Ability to thrive in a potentially highly stressful area of the industry where multiple issues could be occurring at any given point-in-time; candidate must be able to manage competing objectives and instantly triage problems as they arise.
  • Proficient in the use of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
