About the role

  • Develop HV and LV requirements to integrate new powertrain components and test next-generation electrified light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty advanced electrified vehicles.
  • Work closely with systems engineers to scope workstreams for powertrain integration work and new technologies.
  • Design of HV and LV electrical architecture, power distribution, and vehicle CAN/LIN network communications, voltage compatibility, load analysis, and device transmittals.
  • Lead design reviews and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting, commissioning in vehicle, and testing of next generation electrification prototypes supporting ongoing development and testing at various Ford facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Related engineering disciplines with work experience also considered.
  • 2+ years of working experience in HV and LV architecture design, schematics, vehicle build, and in-vehicle service.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive test equipment like oscilloscopes, insulation test equipment, multimeters, and field service/ crimp tools.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and hybrid powertrain architectures.
  • Experience using problem solving tools and methods to find root cause and solve problems related to vehicle build, commissioning, and testing

  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics design and development with a focus on automotive applications, and leading projects from concept to production.
  • Expertise in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for power electronics and Ansys Maxwell for magnetic component design and EMI/EMC analysis.
  • Experience using CAN development tools like CANalyzer, CANoe, and Davinci
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and global electrification regulations (SAE, UL, IEC, GBT).
  • Experience with in-vehicle electrical diagnostics and commissioning work.
  • Familiarity with electrified vehicle controls and calibration strategies
  • - Experience using data acquisition systems, data processing and analysis for design, development, and validation of propulsion systems
  • - Demonstrated track record of delivering new technologies to vehicle programs
  • - Strong communicator with ability to effectively present to technical audiences.
  • - Team player comfortable working in a diverse group in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • - Self-starting with solid follow-through and multitasking abilities; able to work with limited supervision.
