About the role
- Support program architecture decisions by developing CAE tools and software, including developing new tools and methods.
- Create and maintain full vehicle ADAMS and Car Sim models for current and future performance vehicles.
- Coordinate closely with the Advanced Systems Engineering Group to define new product suspension and chassis designs in the provided environment.
- Establish suspension and vehicle handling performance based on target attributes, benchmark vehicles, test data, and related Health Chart metrics.
- Support vehicle testing and attribute measurement associated with validating the CAE models and vehicle parameters.
- Develop and integrate vehicle controls models into the dynamic simulations using MATLAB and Simulink tools.
- Utilize CAE tools and test results to support the delivery of the company’s high-performance vehicles with full vehicle and suspension system modeling.
- Utilize CAE tools to support and direct efficient vehicle development and design processes within the CAE Group.
- Develop new tools to improve performance, steering, and handling predictions.
- Inform planned vehicle testing to create specific attribute targets, while ensuring hardware choices support those targets.
- Support full vehicle simulation modeling.
- Domestic Travel Required up to 8%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilizing ADAMS for vehicle system modeling. 2. Utilizing Matlab or Simulink for vehicle analysis tool development. 3. Defining system and vehicle level metric targets to achieve defined program objectives. 4. Vehicle model correlation against test data and defining testing requirements, using CarSim or Carmaker and ADAMs. 5. Cascading system level requirements to component teams to drive component level requirements to meet system and vehicle level targets using Kinematics and Compliance testing, Objective ride and handling test procedures, VIMF testing, tire testing, 4 post testing coupled with ADAMS and Matlab or Simulink vehicle modeling.
- 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Vehicle mechanical processes working with part replacements, damper servicing, and dyno testing; and vehicle fabrication processes working with cutting methods, grinding, bending, welding, and milling. 2. Experience in real vehicle evaluation and assessment against defined targets, as well as for the purpose of defining targets. 3. Experience in motorsports or high-performance vehicle development.
- 1 year of experience with the following skill is required: 1. Utilizing CarSim or CarMaker for full vehicle system modeling.
